HbA_1c values in Table 1 were incorrectly reported as Japan Diabetes Society values rather than as National Glycohemoglobin Standardization Program (NGSP) equivalent values as stated in the legend. The corrected HbA_1c values reported as NGSP values are given in Table 1.

In addition, the results should have read: ‘Participants who developed microalbuminuria (n = 193) were significantly , had had diabetes for a longer period, and had a higher mean HbA_1c and a higher ACR than participants who remained normoalbuminuric.’

The authors apologise for these mistakes and confirm that they do not change the conclusion of the paper.
