Trial dietitian Alison Barnes (Newcastle University, UK) speaks of her initial skepticism, and describes how the diet actually worked in practice as a pragmatic approach for people with type 2 diabetes aiming to lose sufficient weight to reverse their condition, and to maintain their weight loss over the long term.
