Terence Pang, PhD FRCP Edin, was born in Hong Kong and graduated from University of Edinburgh in 1999. He trained as specialist registrar in Diabetes and Endocrinology in Cambridge, Oxford and Birmingham. As clinical lecturer at University of Birmingham, he completed his PhD in islet autoimmunity, before appointment as NHS consultant in 2011. He has been lead clinician for his department since 2014.
Dr. Pang's clinical interests are in type 1 diabetes and exercise adaptations; he has published original research in these areas. He has re-designed surgical pre-assessment for patients with diabetes, and collaborated with commissioners to integrate care across the Dudley health economy. He has delivered a 7-day Diabetes specialist inpatient service and is overseeing the successful implementation of Thinkglucose that has won multiple national quality awards.
Dr. Pang is principal investigator for academic and commercial studies in diabetes at Russells Hall Hospital. He is the undergraduate speciality lead for Diabetes education at the University of Birmingham. He is a professional member of EASD and Diabetes UK.
In his free time, Dr. Pang enjoys cooking, fine-dining, and gardening. He is learning to ski properly, behind his two young children.
