Dr Patel qualified at St George’s Hospital in South West London and completed his specialist training in North West London. He was later awarded a PhD by Imperial College for his research in cholesterol transport, HDL-C in people with type 2 diabetes. Dr Patel now enjoys his role as lead teacher for undergraduate endocrinology at The Royal Free Hospital in London.
Dr Patel is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at UCL and serves as a principal investigator in clinical trial work in both cardiovascular and renal domains.
His passion is delivering high-quality clinical care in outpatient endocrinology and diabetes management. Dr Patel is committed to patient safety and contributes to trust governance activities. He also provides diabetes operational input to his local Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and is an executive member of a UK specialist committee – The Association of British Clinical Diabetologists (ABCD).
