Frank Snoek

Professor Frank J. Snoek, PhD is chartered clinical health psychologist, director of the diabetes psychology research and care team, and head of the Medical Psychology department at Amsterdam UMC, locations VU University Medical Center (VUMC) and Academic Medical Center (AMC). His research interest lies in behavioral diabetes, with a focus on diabetes self-management and mental health. 

Professor Snoek and his team have developed and validated a range of psychological assessment tools and interventions for people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, including internet/mobile-based programs. Professor Snoek was the founding chair of the EASD study group Psychosocial Aspects of Diabetes (PSAD), and involved in national and international guideline committees for psychological care in diabetes. He was the first recipient of the Award for Excellence in Diabetes Research in the Netherlands and recipient of 2019 Richard R Rubin Award from ADA. 

Professor Snoek is a member of several editorial boards, both in the field of diabetes and health psychology. He is a frequent speaker at international conferences and has published extensively on diabetes psychology in peer-reviewed journals, books and book chapters.
