5. Hvidoere Study Group: What Can Be Learned from Observational Studies

Authors: Carine E. de Beaufort, Fergus Cameron, Hilary Hoey, Henrik B. Mortensen

Publisher: Springer International Publishing

Abstract

In 1993 the large randomized controlled US trial DCCT published their report and showed that a good metabolic control obtained through intensified treatment significantly reduced the severe complications of type 1 diabetes [1–5]. This publication has had a huge impact on diabetes care and treatment targets worldwide.
